Liverpool Shanty Festival

The Liverpool Shanty Festival is an integral part of Folk On The Dock. Curated and produced by Julia and Derek Batters (Trim Rig & Doxy) this year’s line up welcomes performers from Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands and Ireland. Performing on various stages around Albert Dock including the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the France-Hayhurst tug boat, the Daniel Adamson, The Stan Ambrose Stage and The Shanty Stage on Salthouse Quay and The Baltic Fleet in the evening. Visitors will get a real sense of these traditional folk songs from around the world. They celebrate the role that Liverpool’s waterways have played in importing and exporting folk music and traditional shanty songs around the world.
