APPLY TO PLAY

Artist Registration for Folk On The Dock 2019 (12-14 July 2019)

in partnership with Music Glue

APPLICATIONS FOR 2019 HAS NOW CLOSED

If you are interested in submitting your act for consideration, all you need to do is register free via Music Glue before 1st February 2019. All submissions will be reviewed and artists will be chosen to perform slots at next year’s festival. The successful applicants will be contacted via email by 28 February 2019.

Notes for artists: This is a folk, roots and acoustic music festival. If you do not fit into these genres, please do not apply, it just wastes everyone’s time. When applying, please consider the size of the various stages we have at the festival. Does your band fit a festival format? Do your production requirements work in a festival environment? It is always a quick turnaround in between artists performances, so you should be able to set up and sound check quickly in front of the existing audience.

For those new to performing at festivals – Please consider the pace of your performance. In a festival setting, you are playing to a live audience who need to be kept engaged. Make sure your set has a strong opening and finish and that you change the tempo of songs throughout your performance. Listening to six ballads one after another will simply lose your audience, however great the performance. Please rehearse your introductions to songs and the information you give out to your audience should be delivered with confidence. Make sure that your website and social media channels are up to date.

Every year, we listen to every single submission, so make sure the tracks you submit (we suggest two tracks), are your strongest. Try to choose songs that don’t have a 32 bar intro before you start to sing – unless you are an instrumentalist! Your biography should include as much relevant information as possible to support why you are the perfect choice for THIS festival. If no written support information is provided, your submission will be discarded. Provide professional and up to date photos. Finally, check that your song links work!

Good luck and thank you for your interest in Folk On The Dock.
